Carl-Schirren Society
The Carl-Schirren Society (CSG) is a registered association based in Lüneburg, which is responsible for the operational organisation of the German-Baltic Cultural Association. The CSG is also the founder of the German-Baltic Cultural Foundation and the German-Baltic Future Foundation.
The society was founded in Kiel in 1932 with the significant involvement of Kurt Stegmann von Pritzwald and was named in honour of the historian Carl Schirren. It ceased its activities during the Nazi era. In 1950, it resumed its work in Lüneburg under the leadership of Max Hildebert Boehm. Twenty years later, in 1970, it was granted non-profit status.
